Rt 50 Construction Info
Construction to widen Route 50 began in September 2011 and is being completed in stages. VDOT presented information regarding the project at a June 28, 2012 'Pardon Our Dust' meeting; their presentation is available by clicking this link.
Upon completion in December 2014, Route 50 will have six travel lanes, upgraded synchronized signals from Lee Road to Stone Ridge, additional turn lanes, and a 10 foot shared use path on both the north and south sides of the road. The total project cost is $99.9 million and is currently on schedule and on budget.
